Individualized care to help you overcome injuries and transform your athletic performance

Physical therapy for athletes

We’re not just doctors, we’re also athletes

Our Doctors of Physical Therapy aren’t just experts in body mechanics and injury recovery — they’re sports medicine specialists and athletes themselves. Their knowledge and experience make our physical therapy services for athletes far more effective than generic PT routines.

Here at In Motion Physical Therapy, we work with:

  • Competitive and recreational athletes with injuries or chronic pain that prevents them from enjoying their favorite activities.
  • Clients who have tried physical therapy before and found the results lacking

Don’t miss any more games

We understand exactly how frustrating it can be to miss games and workouts — especially if you’ve tried physical therapy exercises in the past. Does that mean PT doesn’t work for you?

No! Physical therapy for athletes can be extremely effective when you have a personalized care plan. If you’ve tried PT before and been disappointed with the outcome (or have had an old issue return), don’t worry — we can help you get lasting results.

Train with a program specifically designed for you

We take a completely individualized approach to physical therapy. You’ll work 1-on-1 with an expert who will develop a treatment plan specifically for your needs and goals. Follow your personalized plan to start seeing the results you want!

What to expect with physical therapy for athletes

Wondering what it’s like to work with our team?

Step 1

Make your appointment

We understand that there’s a level of vulnerability involved in seeking assistance from a physical therapist. So we make it as easy as possible!

You don’t need a doctor’s referral to work with our team. Instead, just call our front desk or use the online contact form to reach out.

We’ll set up your first appointment and let you know exactly what to expect so you can walk through the doors of our clinic feeling confident and ready to get results. We’ll also contact your doctor’s office and insurance provider to get all the necessary paperwork, so you have one less thing on your plate.

Step 2

Get Evaluated

At In Motion Physical Therapy, we take an individualized, holistic approach to care. That means you’ll work 1-on-1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy from your very first visit.

We’ll take the time to listen to your concerns and perform a thorough evaluation of your movement and any problem areas. For example,

  • If you’re experiencing chronic back pain, your therapist will listen as you describe your pain and related symptoms. We’ll work with you to identify activities that aggravate your pain and things that have helped you feel better.
  • Then, your therapist will direct you through a whole-body movement assessment to identify any areas of weakness or limited mobility. This assessment typically includes testing for strength and range of motion and examining functional movements.

We’ll communicate clearly throughout the exam so you’ll know what’s happening and why — no uncomfortable surprises!

Step 3

Receive your personalized treatment plan

Once your evaluation is complete, our Doctors of Physical Therapy will work collaboratively to design and execute your treatment plan. We know that physical therapy is most effective when you play an active role, so your therapist will work with you to develop a plan that you feel comfortable with.

We also know how important teamwork is — in sports and in physical therapy! We want you to feel completely supported during treatment, so we facilitate conversations with your personal network:

  • Parents
  • Coaches
  • Healthcare providers
  • Athletic trainers

And most importantly, we ensure you feel involved and in charge of your care. Your level of investment impacts your results, so we give you all the tools and resources you need to advocate for yourself and care for your body.

Step 4

Feel Better!

Once everything is in place, you’ll start working through your treatment plan. Sessions typically involve two parts:

  • Manual therapy: Starting sessions with manual therapy helps reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Exercise: Your therapist will direct specific movements and stretches to address the underlying issue and improve flexibility and strength.

You’ll also receive a personalized home exercise program to follow between sessions. Consistently following this program will hasten your recovery and give you the knowledge you need to continue caring for your body after you complete physical therapy.

As you work through your personalized treatment plan, you’ll start to notice results: less pain, more mobility, improved strength, and better athletic performance. Most importantly, you’ll regain your confidence and enjoyment of your favorite activities!

Our approach to physical therapy

Assessment

Along with listening to your symptoms and concerns, we utilize various tools — including Tindeq strength testing, Y balance, hop testing, and more — to evaluate your condition and what you need to return to your favorite sports and activities.

Manual therapy

If it makes sense for your body and goals, we’ll incorporate manual therapy — instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, joint mobilization, and stretching — into your care plan.

Movement and exercise

We know how important fitness is for recovery and overall wellness, so we incorporate exercise into your plan. Depending on your needs, your treatment may include strength training, balance exercises, Pilates, and/or a comprehensive training program.

In Motion PT and all the staff have been incredible to work with.

"I’ve been there a few dozen times due to separate injuries (low back disc herniation and broken ankle) and found major success with the PT routines and regimens they’ve provided me. Their care is oriented heavily toward 1-on-1 focused treatment with both hands-on and off approaches. And they are willing to alter the routines to accommodate the results you’d like to see. I intend to passively continue treatments as mobility or pain becomes a concern."
